Another use for aloe vera gel

…other than for hair refreshing!

I have used aloe vera gel for various reasons in the past. Great for kitchen mishaps where burns or scolds happen. We all know this! It really takes heat out of a burn and I find it drastically cuts the healing time needed too.

I am a reactive person, in terms of allergens and been wary of aloe vera as I have had issues in past. Saying that, my allergic reactions can also change frequently. Recently I have suffered with bands of hives on the tops of my arms. I haven’t been able to isolate what has caused it yet.

I had a tube of aloe vera gel from Holland and Barrett on my desk at work.

I originally purchased this back in late summer/early autumn for trialling out refreshing my curls with it, in between wash days. They accidentally sent me three tubes, so I brought one into work for the emergency hair rectification!

When my arms flared up at work, I had none of my go to products to alleviate my symptoms. I reached for aloe vera gel as a last resort, it calmed my skin perfectly this time round. So I’ve continued to use it.

In our current climate with the covid-19 (coronavirus) epidemic, the UK has seen a shortage of hand sanitizer, amongst other products! Whilst hand washing with soap and water still remains the best method, antibacterial hand gels have flown off shelves and are now being sold on for astronomical amounts.

With this shortage in mind, why not make your own with aloe vera gel!

Make your own hand sanitizer

As I mentioned though, hand washing with soap and water is the tried and tested, most effective way to keep the spread of germs at bay.
