Oil be back…

Who can’t resist a pun?

This is part 2 of the hair health topic from yesterday. In my recent order from Naturalistic I purchased some Righteous Roots Oil.

Righteous Roots.

Keen to start using this oil as I’ve heard some good things about it. Jamaican Black Castor Oil is the main ingredient and is reported to assist in hair health.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil works for all hair types. It will moisturize, thicken, strengthen and rapidly increase hair growth. It increases blood flow to the scalp, supplying valuable nutrients to hair follicles. Jamaican Black Castor Oil will also prevent hair breakage, dandruff, eczema and dry, itchy scalp. Jamaican Black Castor Oil has crossed over into other ethnic groups, and is now being used widely for some of the same purposes, as well as new found uses including eyelash and eyebrow hair growth and as massage oil. This versatile oil carries many varied uses.

I have also heard warnings too about using oils. Oils obviously are water repellents they need a “soap” to remove them. Think of your greasy, oily pans after cooking and washing them up. Hot water and washing soap, two key things that completely go against the curly girl method. So, advice is; using sparingly, occasionally and with care. This is due to the fact, the oil can moisturise the hair shaft which in itself is brilliant, but what the oil locks in it also locks out any moisture in the future. This means build up can occur over time and frizz may happen if the cuticle locks futher moisture out.

I have been using a heavier, thicker castor oil, see my previous post Cast/Cast off. But was very keen to try righteous roots oil. I am going to be using a few drops for a scalp massage once a week from now on, to see if I can regain some thickness and length over time.

Wet hair. Post DC. No leave in or products.

I will give it three months before comparing though, as that is the time frame that hair requires to visibly show any difference.
