Always learning more.

Today I have been learning about the balance between moisture and protein that healthy hair requires.

As I have mentioned before, I have suffered a bit of extra frizz recently. I started looking into the reasons why this could be happen, that isn’t a result of the products being used.

I have read that the moisture/protein balance can be a cause and be a bit tricky in redressing.

I did my usual deep condition this week and my hair is no longer responding in same manner. So I got thinking, maybe I don’t need it quite so much now. Research begins.

I am incorporating protein into my hair care routine to see if I have caused hygral fatigue, too much moisture. I have a root touch up booked though so this may cause it to rebalance…in theory!

The other thing I an considering that I have seen others mention is glycerine. Sometimes, this can cause frizz. At moment I am still transitioning so it can all change at a moments notice.

I’ll try to limit my deep conditions in time and/or frequency. Think I’ll only DC for an hour once a week from now on and see how that effects the frizz. Obviously, after the root touch up things may take a day or so to return to where is normal for now.

Today I had to go school shoe shopping. This was bad when I have a vast array of lovely shops to visit. I was in a dangerous place! And bought too many hair products! I’m meant to be on a product ban too. But there were so many good offers to be had! Superdrug had some of the curly products like Shea Moisture range on offer at a third off. Holland and Barrett had faith in nature on offer too, the dragonfruit conditioner may have fallen in my basket but I passed by the cheap xHC banana conditioner, as I do not need anymore! I did buy some more ecostyle gel. I love the olive oil one but thought I’d try the argan oil one. I haven’t really used mousse recently and favoured gel to see how that holds out.

  1. […] Like hair, skin also contains keratin. We all know very well that we must moisturise or skin. But, we forget the same goes for our hair. Whilst deep conditioning helps this process of locking in moisture we still need to address the protein element.I posted about this balance a while back in Always Learning More. […]
